A career of showing up
For 45 years, Gordon Bryan showed up. Seven years flying for the United States Navy. Nearly 35 years in the FedEx cockpit. His career was built on a simple principle: when people are counting on you, you do not look away.
From Newport News to the cockpit
Gordon grew up in Newport News, Virginia, and attended the University of North Carolina on a Naval ROTC scholarship. He served seven years on active duty as a naval aviator, flying the A-7E Corsair II off aircraft carriers out of Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, followed by seven years in the naval reserves. He joined FedEx in the fall of 1983 and flew for nearly 35 years before retiring.
Home in Shelby County
Shelby County has been his home since 1983. He and his wife Deborah raised their family here and have two adult children and grandchildren in the district.
Why he is running
Gordon did not plan to run for Congress. After finishing cardiac rehabilitation this spring, he began attending Democratic Party meetings across West Tennessee and listening. He heard the same things everywhere: rising prices, closing hospitals, wages frozen for 15 years, and a congressman who sat on one of the most powerful committees in the House while all of it happened. He decided District 8 needed someone who would show up in Washington the same way he always had.
Gordon Bryan wants to be your Congressman, and he gives his word that he will defend the people of District 8, tell them the truth, and put in the work.
